University of Iowa—Between the Lines

Between the Lines brings together high school students from the US, Arabic-speaking countries and Russia for creative writing and cultural exchange. Course work seeks to increase awareness of world literature and improve creative writing skills. Award-winning poets and writers lead classes, and programming includes an English-language seminar and a creative writing workshop conducted in the language of the participant's choice. Weekend events and nightly activities help students better understand other cultures through interactions with other pupils and the larger community.
