Undergrad Profile

Sitting in class at Wilkes University, you may notice something a little unexpected: professors genuinely interested in students’ thoughts and aspirations.

Personal engagement and hands-on learning are built into the Wilkes curriculum. All Wilkes students can take advantage of numerous opportunities to get real-world experience in their field of interest, whether that’s starting a business, conducting research, or using high-tech instruments that even graduate students at other institutions rarely touch.

Unique program mix
Wilkes is the only university of its size to offer the broad mix of professional and liberal arts programs we do. You can choose from 42 majors across six schools.

Located at the foothills of the Pocono Mountains, Wilkes University is a private, comprehensive institution with more than 2,400 undergraduate students. The compact, 35-acre campus features a park-like quadrangle surrounded by modern academic buildings and historic 19th-century mansions that have been restored as student residences and classroom buildings.

Academic programs are designed to prepare students with a well-rounded liberal arts foundation that cultivates independent thinking and gives students the credentials necessary to launch a career or for entrance into graduate and professional schools.

The University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and has specialized accreditation in the sciences, pharmacy, engineering, nursing, education, and business. More than 97% of students are employed or attending graduate/professional school within one year of receiving their degrees.

Recognized for value
The prestigious, global publication The Economist ranked Wilkes 25th in the nation for economic value, confirming Wilkes’ commitment to preparing students for academic success in high-paying careers. It determined a college’s economic value by comparing what a school’s graduates earn to how much they might have earned had they studied elsewhere.
