What steps should I take to become a doctor?

Charlotte M. Klaar, Ph.D.Charlotte M. Klaar, Ph.D.

While you are in high school, try to get work in a hospital, doctor’s office, or laboratory. Perhaps you can get an internship, some of which are paid, in one of these settings. I would also do an informational interview or two with physicians you know. Ask them about how they made the journey to becoming a doctor, what they would do differently, and what are the best and worst decisions that they made along the way.
