Transfer Profile

The city is your campus. New York City has a world of opportunities for learning, growth, and exploration. An international center for business, communications, and the arts, New York is the premier place to study and learn because of all the resources the city has to offer, the exciting internship possibilities, the dynamic classroom work provided by Marymount Manhattan College, and more.

At Marymount Manhattan College (MMC), a four-year, private coeducational college located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, students receive strong pre-professional training and a flexible liberal arts education, complementing what they have learned with an extensive internship program.

Founded in 1936 and independently chartered in 1961, the College’s atmosphere is warm, supportive, and focused on the individual. MMC is recognized for its small classes, committed academic advisors, and outstanding faculty. With 27 major fieldsof study and more than 40 minors and pre-professional programs to choose from, students at MMC are prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century. They gain the practical skills of communicating ideas, solving problems, and seeing broader points of view that are essential in successfully navigating an ever-changing and increasingly demanding work environment.

Find yourself, your career—and discover your dreams
Students at MMC can tailor their bachelor’s degree to find the programs that are right for them. If students have several different interests and skills, they are encouraged to sample from a wide variety of discipline-based foundation courses and advanced disciplinary courses or pursue the Liberal Studies Program for a broad base of knowledge. All students are assigned a faculty advisor for individual guidance in degree planning, graduate school preparation, and career options.

Small classes and seminars provide meaningful interaction between students and faculty, resulting in excellent references for internships, jobs, or graduate school. The Office of Career Services and Internships is also a resource for students to investigate different careers before graduation. By building their résumés with hands-on experience, making connections, and gaining college credit for their internships, students benefit from MMC’s dynamic New York City location.

Financing your education
Students always comment on the strength of MMC’s scholarship programs. With approximately 85% of the student body receiving some form of financial aid, MMC awards scholarships using a variety of criteria, including academic achievement and demonstrated leadership. All students are encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see the government grants, loans, and other MMC monies for which they may be eligible. MMC has a priority deadline of March 15 for fall entrants and December 15 for spring entrants.

The best of both worlds
MMC is comprised of nearly 2,000 students in a city of nine million people. The College offers small classes and an 11:1 student-faculty ratio while having all the resources of New York City at its fingertips. Students are drawn to MMC for its strong academic reputation, outstanding faculty, and beautiful campus on the Upper East Side. The College recently completed a $37 million capital campaign and used a portion of these funds to enhance campus facilities. The Lowerre Family Terrace, a 5,000-sq. ft. outdoor space that connects the campus’s two buildings, was added in fall 2008. The Commons, a new student space for dining and hanging out, was added in fall 2009. In summer 2015, MMC opened the doors to its newest residence hall, Cooper Square, located in Manhattan’s East Village neighborhood.

Experience MMC firsthand
You are invited to sit in on a class, tour the campus and facilities, and speak to current students. Everyone is encouraged to visit MMC to experience firsthand the advantages of a small, personal liberal arts college within New York City.
