Is PrivateColleges.com registration open to everyone?

Absolutely! We welcome all users to register and request information from colleges, use our scholarship search, research more colleges, and dive into our timely and focused content.

Is PrivateColleges.com a free site?

Yes, all the features on PrivateColleges.com and the CollegeXpress network are completely free to anyone who registers on the site.

What is CollegeXpress?

PrivateColleges.com is part of the CollegeXpress network of sites. CollegeXpress is the most complete student portal for finding colleges, scholarships, and managing your college search process. Once you've completed registration, you will be in the network and able to access all of the information and tools.

Why isn't the private college/university I am interested in included as part of PrivateColleges.com?

The Featured colleges and universities that are on our site are there because they chose to utilize our service. Their participation allows us to bring this site to you for free. After you complete registration, you will be able to do a college search, which includes all four-year colleges and universities. You will only be able to request information from featured/member colleges and universities.

How do I e-mail the member colleges and universities on your website directly?

To e-mail any of the member colleges and universities featured on our website (you need to be registered) go to college search and find the school you are interested in learning more about. If you click on the college/university name, the profile of the school will appear. To the right of the profile you will find many options; one of them is "Send an E-mail." Click it and your e-mail will be sent to the college/university admission office directly.

How can I apply to the member colleges and universities on your website?

To apply to any of the member colleges and universities featured on our website (you need to be registered) go to college search and find the school you are interested in learning more about. If you click on the college/university name, the profile of the school will appear. To the right of the profile you will find many options; one of them is "Apply Online." Click it and you will be driven to the college/university online application webpage (if they offer that option on their website).

How do I receive more information from the member colleges and universities featured on your website?

To receive more information from any of the member colleges and universities featured on our website (you need to be registered) go to the college search and find the schools you are interested in learning more about. If you click on the college/university name, the profile of the school will appear. To the left of the profile you will see a green “I Want to Hear From” button. Click it and your request for more information will be sent directly to the colleges you’ve selected.

Why haven't I received anything from the member colleges and universities I selected to receive more information from on your website?

Unfortunately, we cannot control when and if colleges and universities you request information from through our website respond to you. We do send every information request directly to each one you select. Since each individual college/university controls their own communication with students, we recommend that if you haven’t heard from some of the colleges/universities you selected, contact the college/university directly.

Why did I receive a copy of Private Colleges & Universities magazine?

You were selected to receive this magazine by the member colleges of the CONSORTIUM OF PRIVATE COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES. Your name was made available by either the Student Search Service of The College Board (you took one or more of the PSAT, SAT, or AP exams), ACT (PLAN or ACT tests), or through the National Research Center for College and University Admissions (you completed a survey). Through one of these sources you opted in to receive information from colleges and universities.

How do I get a copy of Private Colleges & Universities magazine?

We are happy to mail you a copy of our FREE publication Private Colleges & Universities magazine. All you need to do is send us the information we have listed below through our contact us form and select Magazine Request under subject. Since we have 31 different regional and specialty editions of our publication, we need you to send us the information below in your e-mail request so we know the appropriate edition/s to mail to you.

  • Complete name and mailing address
  • Year of high school graduation
  • Overall GPA and/or PSAT score
  • College/university majors you are interested in
  • Location/s you are interested in attending a college/university

How do I register for the Carnegie Communications $10,000 scholarship?

You can register for the scholarship one of three ways:

  1. Registering on this website.
  2. Completing and mailing the postage-paid reply card bound inside any edition of Private Colleges & Universities magazine.
  3. Sending us an e-mail with your information (please follow the guidelines listed inside the front cover of any edition of Private Colleges & Universities magazine). Make sure to include all of the required information.

How can I cancel or delete my profile from PrivateColleges.com?

Select the Cancel/Delete Account/Unsubscribe option under Subject on the contact us form. Make sure you include your full name, e-mail address, and other contact information so we can process your request.

When will this year's Carnegie Communications $10,000 scholarship winner be chosen?

The scholarship winner will be chosen in May. Please see the contest rules and conditions for more details.

The scholarship winner will be announced in early summer.
