Set on a postcard-worthy campus dotted with cherry trees, Western Kentucky University is one of the most beautiful colleges in the South. WKU is located in Bowling Green, Kentucky, a growing city that was recently recognized by both Time magazine and Reader’s Digest as one of the best places to live in the United States. Our hilltop campus is surrounded by a city that boasts amusement parks, caves, museums, restaurants, shopping, performing arts, and more. They call us the Hilltoppers because our students not only climb The Hill every day, but they’re also not afraid to overcome challenges to reach greatness.

WKU is a student-centered applied research university. Our professors and advisors won’t just know your name and care about you—they’ll also work with you to make sure you achieve your goals and graduate with real-world experience.

Agriculture majors operate all aspects of a working farm. Education majors teach in local schools. Broadcasting and Meteorology majors create real newscasts multiple times a week. Business majors participate in internships with Fortune 500 companies. Theatre and Dance majors produce Broadway-quality productions. Science majors work on major research projects with their professors and publish their findings in academic journals or present at national conferences. Students don’t just graduate with a diploma—they enter the real world with experience that makes them stand out above the rest. Plus, with over 100,000 alumni all over the world, you’ll be part of a network of Hilltoppers who want you to succeed.

When you join the Hilltopper family, you’ll receive more than an education; you’ll join a community and have once-in-a-lifetime opportunities at your fingertips. Our residence halls were designed with you in mind. You can live with students who have the same major or interests as you in our Living Learning Communities.

WKU offers student spaces for all purposes—academic and social, indoor and outdoor—where you can meet up with friends, study in comfort, or grab a bite to eat. We have over 300 student organizations for you to join. Your student ID gives you access to every home Hilltopper sporting event and the Preston Center, where you can work out, swim, play basketball, or rent equipment for an outdoor excursion. For students who want to study around the globe, our Office of Study Abroad and Global Learning can help you find the perfect international experience.

WKU is a life-changing place. Our students love The Hill because it’s more than just a school—it’s their home. We want you to be a Hilltopper and experience everything WKU has to offer. You can sign up for a tour or event at wku.edu/visitwku and check our admission requirements at wku.edu/admit. And when you’re ready to start your journey to WKU, go to wku.edu/apply.
