Kyla-Yen Giffin is a junior in the hill-surrounded city of Livermore, California. Not only is she Editor-in-Chief of her school newspaper and the Founder and President of a positive difference club on campus, but she also has a varsity letter in track & field and the 12th-highest GPA in her class. Outside of school, Kyla has volunteered for five summers at a community reading buddies program 40 miles away from where she lives and has also volunteered for Glide, Alternative Family Services, and The Borgen Project. She is especially known by her family and peers for being deep thinker and an avid and talented writer, having written a few of her own poetry collections as well as many stories and creative nonfiction pieces.
