For over 100 years, Belhaven University has flourished among Christian colleges and universities for its enduring commitment to the liberal arts as well as its integration of faith in the classroom. We believe that Christian higher education should encourage students to think critically in a wide array of disciplines and provide an environment that’s academically rigorous while being supportive of students and their success. Belhaven’s mission is to prepare students to serve Jesus Christ in their careers, their relationships, and the world of ideas. 

Comprehensive academics
The University offers 70 areas of study across a full spectrum of disciplines as well as a variety of graduate programs. Remarkably, we’re one of only 36 colleges and universities in the United States with national accreditation in all four areas of the arts—dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. Our nationally respected Arts program goes hand-in-hand with our vision to form Christian artists who impact the world for Christ through excellence. We have many exciting new offerings including a Fashion Merchandising major, Game Design for Computer Science concentration, and minors in Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, Web Design, Cybersecurity Systems, and Animation. Additionally, Belhaven is the only Christian college in America to offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing.

Distinctive, unique programs
Belhaven features several distinct programs, including our Core Curriculum, the Freshman Guarantee Option for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and the Arts program, just to name a few. The core subjects are taught in historical sequence so students see the worlds of literature, history, art, and philosophy as influencing and shaping each historical time period. 

Belhaven is the first and only university in the country to offer a unique program called the Belhaven Promise. For first-time, full-time freshmen who remain continuously enrolled for four years and declare a double major, the fifth year of tuition is free. We want to fuel our students’ academic passions and help them maximize their success. Combinations of majors are limited only by the imagination.

Belhaven University is located in the beautiful and historic Belhaven district, a notable residential setting in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi. This close-knit community surrounds the University with parks, local jogging routes, and professors who live just around the corner. Belhaven’s campus is only a few blocks away from Jackson’s historic Fondren Arts District, where students can check out local restaurants, shops, coffeehouses, and more.
