Video: 5 Things to Do While Social Distancing

Bored at home? Here are five things to do while you're cooped up during the COVID-19 pandemic. Watch the video now!

As we head into another week of social distancing, you may start feeling bored, isolated, and stressed. We’re all feeling the coronavirus blues, but student vlogger Janna wants to give us a burst of energy, positivity, and motivation to continue living our best lives with her top five favorite things to do at home. Watch her video below and let us know if you’ve tried any of these great activities!

1. Read or watch TV

Start a new book you’ve been dying to read or binge-watch a new show on Netflix—whichever is your cup of tea.

2. Write thank-you notes

This is beneficial to whoever you’re writing to but also for yourself. It’s therapeutic to practice gratitude and remembering people to be thankful for.

3. Cook

Even if you’ve never cooked before, now is your chance to learn. Give it a try: look up recipes on YouTube (shout out to College Cooking!), Pinterest, or Google and try them out for your family!

4. Spring cleaning

Get rid of anything that doesn’t serve you: clothes you don’t wear, books you don’t read, items you don’t use. Then donate them to people who’ll appreciate it. Cleaning your house is a good way to organize your life and give back.

5. Self-care

When are you ever going to have this much time to focus on you? Pick up a hobby you put on the back burner. Treat yourself to a facial and a long bath. Do something that makes you happy and reminds you of the positive things in life.

My college search began at CollegeXpress. Due to this helpful tool, I was able to gather a lot of information to guide my college planning decisions. Through CollegeXpress, I was also able to apply to several scholarships to help pay for my tuition. I would definitely recommend this website to anyone who wants to explore colleges and get more information from admission experts, counselors, and real students.

CollegeXpress helped me overcome a huge hurdle. Because of the small town I live in, I felt like I would never achieve more. I felt like I could never go beyond because of costs. I feared I wouldn’t be able to find scholarships. I had no idea of where to start. With CollegeXpress, I easily found scholarships—they came to me. It was a helper, and I was instantly matched with opportunities to go above and beyond educationally.

CollegeXpress helped in my journey by comparing multiple colleges for my final decision. While looking at different colleges, I was able to compare the tuition expenses and that landed me with the college that I’m currently enrolled in, Western Kentucky University. Thank you!

I'm a senior in high school, and CollegeXpress has helped me in so many ways this year in trying to navigate the process of deciding and committing to a university. The COVID-19 Student Resource Center has helped me many times with the most up-to-date and accurate information, along with financial aid and student life [advice]. During these uncertain times, CollegeXpress has been a great recourse to relieve the stress as a senior. Along with the COVID-19 Student Resource Center, I'm constantly using the extremely helpful tools off the site to aid me during this stressful process. Tools like the lists and rankings of universities have been the most beneficial. I've also used the site to receive expert advice on topics like financial aid. Finally, CollegeXpress has helped me easily apply for several scholarships. I'm thankful to be given the chance to win a scholarship to lessen the burden of my college debt.
