Transfer to Hofstra University—a Move in the Right Direction
At Hofstra students live, work, and study on a beautiful, state-of-the-art campus that’s only 25 miles east of Manhattan. Our 244-acre suburban campus is lush, green, and spacious, with ivy-covered buildings and cutting-edge facilities, just minutes from all the adventure and opportunity New York City has to offer.
Best of both worlds
With the top-notch resources and wide-ranging programs of a large university and the sense of community and personal attention of a small college, Hofstra is a great place for students who are looking for a traditional campus experience without sacrificing the networking opportunities, internship experiences, and cultural offerings of a bustling metropolis.
Hofstra students have endless opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus. Students may conduct research with a distinguished professor in our innovative labs on campus, including a big data lab, a robotics and advanced manufacturing lab, and a cell and tissue engineering lab; intern with top-tier companies in finance or media, in the state Legislature or Congress; or work in our cutting-edge facilities such as the Martin B. Greenberg Trading Room, equipped with 34 Bloomberg terminals, or WRHU-88.7 FM, Radio Hofstra University, one of the top college radio stations in the country, according to The Princeton Review (Best Colleges 2015–2017).
As a Hofstra student, you can choose to live and learn in one of our 35 residence halls, each with a unique flair, community, and life of its own. We also offer nine living-learning communities, which give students the opportunity to live with many of the same students they are in classes with, as well as students with whom they may share a passion for leadership, health sciences, or the visual or performing arts.
Since its founding in 1935, Hofstra has evolved into an internationally renowned university that continues to earn recognition as an institution of academic excellence. Hofstra maintains 25 academic accreditations and 28 total accreditations, including consistent recognition on the Best College lists of U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review, Fiske Guide to Colleges, Washington Monthly, and Forbes magazine.
Hofstra has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for eight consecutive years (2008–2015) and is the only university to host US presidential debates in three consecutive election cycles (2008, 2012, and 2016).

We make transferring easy
At Hofstra we value the credits you’ve earned at another institution, and we have maximized the transferability of your credits. To simplify the transfer process, we give our students greater flexibility in fulfilling general education requirements with previously completed course work. Generally, courses in which you’ve received a grade of at least a C- may be transferred to Hofstra. Usually, if a course you’ve taken at another institution is comparable to a course offered at Hofstra, you will receive credit. Learn more at hofstra.edu/transfer.
