Admission Criteria and Requirements
Transfer students generally receive favorable admission review when they present a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on all college-level coursework, provided they have attempted at least 24 semester credits, or 36 quarter credits, at institutionally accredited colleges or universities. If you have fewer than 24 semester credits, please see High School Information below. Please contact our transfer admission counselor with questions.
In addition to the application, essay, and letter of recommendation, Samford also requires the following from transfer students:
• College transcripts: Samford requires official college transcripts to be sent directly from your school. We will accept transcripts electronically via E-script and Docufide.
• High school information: Students who have completed fewer than 24 semester credits must also submit their official high school transcript and standardized test scores (ACT code: 0016; SAT code: 1302).
We welcome transfer students at the beginning of any term. Although there's no formal admission deadline, applicants are encouraged to complete the process as soon as possible. Delays in the admission process could adversely affect other processes important to eventual enrollment, including advising, registration, and financial aid. For application dates and deadlines, please see the transfer application timeline above.
“Study abroad with Samford was more than just a line on my résumé—it was a rich experience that helped me grow as a person. If you have a dream to go somewhere, the people at Samford do all they can to make it work."
“People at Samford accept you as you are and love you enough to keep pushing you to grow. We’re always challenging each other to live up to Christ’s example and supporting each other’s dreams.”
“Samford is what college is supposed to be. I was challenged not just to learn new ideas but to understand them. Here, we’re invited to an education that calls us, in the words of Micah 6:8, “to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly.””
“Samford gave me the confidence to know I may not have all the answers, but I can get them—and with that mindset, I can learn to do anything.”
“I left Samford with more than an education. I left with wisdom. Character can get you in doors that your achievements never will.”
“I graduated in May and began working for an NFL team the next week. I couldn’t have done that without the real-world training of my Samford practicum and the inspiration of my professors.”
“My professors at Samford believed in me before I believed in myself.”
