Student and campus life
Life at Kean is a vibrant mix of academic, social, and cultural activities—students get involved both on and off campus with access to world-class internships. Kean is a 30-minute train ride to New York City direct from campus, while world-class music, dance, and theatrical performances engage you right here. Premiere Stages, one of five theatres on campus, is a professional equity theatre that supports the development and production of work by local playwrights. Theatre majors at Kean have the uncommon opportunity to earn professional credits in the Actors’ Equity Association as students here on campus.
With nearly 140 honor societies, cultural and student organizations, as well as 32 fraternities and sororities, Kean offers students a wealth of social and educational opportunities.
Residential student services
Rated the best in New Jersey among public universities by Niche.com, Kean’s residence halls are vibrant communities of close to 2,000 students, where new ideas and greater independence are explored. A new freshman residence hall is slated to open in fall 2018.
Kean Global: beyond study abroad
A global education is important to appreciating cultural diversity and success in multinational corporations. Kean goes global like no one else. With international internships and TraveLearn opportunities in over 60 countries, Kean was also selected as one of three US universities to operate a full-scale English-speaking campus in Wenzhou, China. Kean students can study for a semester or year at Wenzhou-Kean University and immerse themselves in Chinese culture while keeping on track with the courses they need to graduate.

Test Score Requirements: Applicants must submit a general evaluation of their official high school (secondary school) transcript. The evaluation report must come from an organization affiliated with the National Association of Credit Evaluation Services (NACES). Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) official test scores are required for any applicant who has studied in a country where English is not the native language. Please note that the TOEFL/IELTS requirement is only waived if you are a native English speaker or have completed a college-level English Composition course in the US with a grade of “C” or better. TOEFL minimum score: Internet based: 80; Computer based: 213; Paper based: 550; IELTS minimum score: 6.0
