Higher purpose. Greater good.

Saint Louis University is built on the Jesuit tradition of "cura personalis," or caring for the whole person. This means the College doesn't just train you to be a technician; it challenges you to think deeply about how your art interacts with the world. Located in the heart of a city famous for its culture, the University provides a professional backdrop for your artistic journey.

Academics that push boundaries
The curriculum at the University is designed to be hands-on from day one. Whether you are pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art or exploring art history, you will find yourself in small, collaborative classes. The program offers eight distinct areas of emphasis, including ceramics, graphic design, and computer art. You will spend your time in specialized 2-D and 3-D studios, learning to master everything from traditional oil painting to cutting-edge digital software. By the time you reach your senior capstone, you will have a professional portfolio ready to show the world.

A campus alive with creativity
Life as an art student here extends far beyond the studio walls. The University is home to three on-campus museums and the McNamee Gallery, which is dedicated specifically to showcasing student work. Because the campus is located in the Grand Center Arts District, you are just steps away from world-class galleries and theaters. You can join student-run groups like Tidy Projects, a graphic design studio where students work with real-world clients, or participate in themed exhibitions that bring the entire campus community together.

Midtown is also experiencing a new renaissance, thanks to more than $1.2 billion in recent housing, retail and business development, with SLU at the center of its growth.
