Mount Aloysius College, established in 1853, is one of 17 colleges and universities operating under the auspices of the Sisters of Mercy. The College is located in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania—only 90 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and 60 minutes from State College. Mount Aloysius offers a values-based liberal arts education and strong career-oriented degree programs that are in demand. The College’s programs in Nursing, Health Sciences, Business, Education, and Natural and Applied Sciences are exceptional.

With nearly 17,000 alumni worldwide, Mount Aloysius graduates are part of a proud tradition—now over 165 years old—combining community service, personal development, and academic excellence. Well-rounded campus life includes 15 NCAA Division III sports, over 100 student-run clubs, and the pristine beauty of a 193-acre Cresson, Pennsylvania, campus.

Liberal arts college, sought-after majors
Mount Aloysius, an outstanding college with a student population of approximately 2,500, has several hallmarks: small classes; dedicated, caring professors; and excellent job placement after graduation. You won’t be just another number here. Mount Aloysius offers a wide variety of sought-after health and non-health majors to meet the needs of its students and society. With its distinguished history in the field of nursing and health sciences education, Mount Aloysius is home to the Commonwealth’s most robust and leading Medical Imaging program. Our premier Nursing program offers students the latest simulation technology for our Nursing students (iStan™ was featured on the hit television show Grey’s Anatomy). Our Surgical Technology program is ranked in the top 10 nationwide, and our Nursing students continually surpass the national average on the NCLEX exams. Biology graduates are enrolling into medical school, and Medical Imaging/Ultrasonography students are being trained on the latest technology used in hospitals across the country.

Exceptional value
Mount Aloysius College offers financial assistance to 94% of our students and was recently named one of 100 “best value” colleges in the US. Mount Aloysius is also a College of Distinction and a Pennsylvania College of Distinction, and three separate academic areas—Business, Education, and Nursing—have also earned College of Distinction status. Mount Aloysius was named one of four colleges deemed “an engine of opportunity” in a White House report. Our Nursing division is ranked sixth in Pennsylvania for NCLEX pass rates among Nursing programs that test more than 85 students annually, and our American Sign Language/English Interpreting program is one of only 13 accredited programs in the nation.
