Selection is based upon hospitality work experience, financial need, academic record, professional, community, and extracurricular activities, and essay. Scholarships are also available to hospitality professionals seeking certification from the Educational Institute of AH&LA for the following areas: certified hotel administrator, certified lodging manager, certified engineering operations, and certified hospitality housekeeping executive.
