Keeping a keen eye toward the future
Named after a Pacific Ocean inlet, the University of Puget Sound is a liberal arts college located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. For over 125 years, the University has offered courses that embrace the ever-changing landscape of human knowledge and endeavor. Our approach to liberal arts is interdisciplinary and innovative, with more than 50 areas of study, including Business & Leadership, Environmental Policy & Decision Making, Global Development Studies, Health Sciences, and Music. An 11:1 student-faculty ratio means students receive a lot of personal attention from professors who collectively teach 1,200 classes each year. Teaching is a priority of our faculty members; they take a collaborative approach to learning and are generous with their time.
At Puget Sound, we’re focused on the present while keeping a keen eye toward the future. We know that learning is both practical and theoretical, and the journey and the destination are equally important. We recognize there’s room for big ideas in small classes. We draw strength from our differences and value authentic relationships built with peers and professors. We challenge students to own their learning under the guidance of faculty who take pride in being accessible and supportive inside and outside the classroom.
The academic experience at Puget Sound means more than just classes—it extends far beyond the classroom and individual programs. Independent research opportunities abound on campus, and students can choose to study abroad in more than 40 countries. Whatever academic paths Puget Sound students choose to pursue, they all lead to new heights of expansive knowledge and personal discovery.
