Thursday, October 1

FAFSA available

Today is the first day the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens for the 2021–2022 school year. If you have students planning to enroll in college next year, remind them to fill out their form as soon as possible, as many types of aid are first come, first served!

National Hispanic Heritage Month continues

Observed from September 15–October 15, Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the history, culture, and contributions of generations of Hispanic Americans. Encourage your students to learn more about Hispanic influence in the United States and celebrate your Hispanic students, friends, and peers!

World Smile Day

This event celebrates Harvey Ball, creator of the smiley face, and the act of spreading kindness. The Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation was created in his honor after his passing in 2001 and works to promote the spread of kindness in the world. Join the celebration by doing something kind for someone today!

The American Geosciences Institute seeks to celebrate, support, and encourage interest in the Earth sciences. This year’s theme is all about promoting understanding of geoscience and stewardship of the planet.

Environmental Science Majors and Potential Jobs: If your students haven’t quite picked a major yet but are interested in the sciences, have them consider these potential majors and the jobs they could lead to.
