Favorite Fictional Schools

List produced by the Experts more info

  • Adams College (Revenge of the Nerds): One thing this school teaches its students--particularly the uber dorks of the Lambda Lambda Lambda fraternity--is to be true to oneself, even if that means embracing horn-rimmed glasses, a nasally laugh, and social awkwardness of nuclear proportions. The spirit of competition is alive at Adams too, and students can participate in shenanigans as the "liniment in the jock strap" game and a stylized javelin toss that defies explanation.
  • California University (Saved By The Bell, The College Years): Just imagine going to college in sunny California; living in a sprawling co-ed dorm with all your BFFs; having a beefy, affable ex-NFL player as an RA; and ultimately getting married to the hottest chick of the '90s? Zack Morris really had it made at CU, even if he gave us unrealistic expectations of college life!
  • Coolidge College (National Lampoon's Van Wilder): Home to the outgoing and popular Van Wilder for seven years, Coolidge College never had a dull moment. The guys wanted to be him and the girls wanted to date him, but in the end, it was all about finally graduating. From parties and fundraisers to pranks and love triangles, who didn't want to attend a school like Coolidge with the ultimate BMOC Van Wilder?
  • Faber College (Animal House): The school motto, "Knowledge is Good," demonstrates Faber's commitment to education, and a big part of that is networking. What better way to make connections than to join a fraternity like Delta Tau Chi and learn such valuable skills as indoor motorcycle riding and guitar smashing (yeah, that song was pretty lame).
  • Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Harry Potter): Don't even pretend like you didn't want to go to Hogwarts. Super-tight residence hall communities, show-stopping (if sometimes dangerous) homecoming events, top professors in the magical and dark arts, and dinners that just appear out of thin air. Plus, it's a castle, for Pete's sake!
  • Pennbrook University (Boy Meets World): Overachiever Topanga eschewed her acceptance to Yale to attend Pennbrook with Cory and Shawn, so it must be one upstanding school! With pool tables in the lounge, special campus apartments for married couples, a gymnastic penguin mascot, and 24-hour access to the beloved, curmudgeonly Mr. Feeny, college couldn't get any better!
  • Starfleet Academy (Star Trek): Set phasers to stunning quads and campus grounds, top-notch academics, cutting-edge space flight training, and more. To attend another college would be illogical.
  • University of Los Angeles (Fresh Prince of Bel Air): Okay, no one was cooler than the Fresh Prince, so his college of choice is a must have on this list. Not only that, the fictional ULA had Carlton as its peacock mascot--and man, did he rock that strut.
  • Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters (The X-Men): What's not to love about Xavier's School? Jean Grey as your academic advisor. Beast giving honors seminars. Professor X running the show. Wolverine being all attractive and brooding in the corner. . . . Not to mention, if you go there, you must have awesome mutant powers.

About This List

We are some serious Pixar fans over here at CollegeXpress, so we were pretty floored when they launched the so-awesome-it-hurts "school" website for Monsters University (a promotion for the upcoming prequel to 2001's Monsters, Inc). In fact, it inspired us to make a list of our favorite fictional schools!
