ASTA Northern California Chapter – Richard Epping Scholarship

Applicant must be a permanent resident of California, who is a full-time or part-time undergraduate student enrolled in a travel-and-tourism- or hospitality-related program of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in California with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Applicants from two-year schools will be entering second year in the fall of the calendar year of application, and will have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by the end of this semester or term. Applicants from four-year schools will be entering junior year in the fall of the calendar year of application, and will have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours by the end of this semester or term; or will be entering senior year in the fall of the calendar year of application and will have completed a minimum of 90 credit hours by the end of this semester or term. Online application, driver's license as proof of permanent state residency, resume, two evaluations and letters of recommendation (one professional, one academic), an official transcript, and essay are required to be submitted. Essay topic: Discuss what segment of the travel and tourism or hospitality industry your current program of study focuses on. What opportunities are you taking advantage of as you prepare for a career in the industry? Four–Year Schools in New York with Articulation Agreements

These are the four-year schools in the Empire State accepting articulation agreements. Check with each school you're considering to confirm which community colleges they're working with. (What's an articulation agreement? Basically, it allows students to transfer recognized community college credits toward their four-year degree. Not too shabby!)

James C. Borel FFA Leaders Scholarship Fund

Applicants must be current FFA members and high school seniors or college students planning to enroll or currently enrolled full-time. They must have served as a chapter, state or national FFA officer, and preference will be given to students who have demonstrated leadership skills. Applicants must have at least a 3.5 GPA, and they must show proof of community service participation. Students only need to complete the online application one time to be considered for all FFA-administered scholarships. The application requires information about the student's activities and a 1,000-word essay. Awards may be used for books, supplies, tuition, fees and room and board.

University Scholars & Global Scholars

The University Scholars and Global Scholars programs provide second-year students with the opportunity to deepen their interests and foster interdisciplinary connections through a spring-semester seminar experience and additional faculty mentoring. Students are selected for either program based on their academic performance and leadership potential. The information that you provide on your application will help reviewers to learn about your interests and aspirations. Please review the program descriptions available at University Scholars & Global Scholars | University Honors Program before completing your application. While similar, these programs offer some different opportunities and support for students. A complete application will include student essay responses, an uploaded DPR, and recommendations from two individuals familiar with your achievements. At least one of your recommendations should come from someone who has taught you in a KU course. Please remember to contact your recommenders ahead of submitting your application. Students do not need to be members of the University Honors Program to apply to the Global Scholars or University Scholars programs.
