We’re the largest, most comprehensive Catholic university in Michigan, offering more than 100 academic degrees and programs, including our law school and dental school, accelerated options, intricate study abroad programs, community service projects, research opportunities with award-winning faculty, and competitive internships at major organizations in Detroit and beyond.

Engineering programs
Freshmen are admitted directly into Detroit Mercy’s Engineering programs right after high school. Our lab spaces have been designed to facilitate hands-on collaboration and are fitted with equipment found in the workplace. We have over 150 industry partners and more than 100 years of cooperative education experience. Students are required to participate in three professional cooperative education assignments—some co-ops can pay up to $26 an hour, and all include mentored support from faculty. Employers value our students because of their applied technical skills and ethical decision-making abilities developed through our values-based curriculum. With a year’s worth of experience on your résumé and a projects-based education, you’ll be well positioned to land a great job after graduation.

Science programs
At Detroit Mercy, you’ll get project research experience starting as early as your freshman year. In your classes, you’ll participate in small group projects where you’ll gain critical hands-on experience for the workplace. Our state-of-the-art lab spaces are perfect for learning and practicing your skills. Plus, our medical and dental school admission rates are above the national average.
