ASTA Arizona Scholarship

Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada who is a full-time or part-time undergraduate student, enrolled in a travel-and-tourism-related program of study at an accredited two- or four- year college or university in Arizona, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a U.S. 4.0 scale). Applicants enrolled at an accredited two-year college, entering the second year in the fall of the calendar year of application, will have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by the end of this semester or term. Applicants enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university, entering junior or senior year, will have completed a minimum of 60 or 90 credit hours (respectively) by the end of this semester or term. Online application, passport or Alien Registration Card as proof of permanent residency, resume, two evaluations and letters of recommendation (academic and professional), official transcript, and essay are required to be submitted. Essay topic: Discuss what segment of the travel and tourism or hospitality industry your current program of study focuses on. What opportunities are you taking advantage of as you prepare for a career in the industry? Please tell us about your academic and extracurricular activities and experiences, i.e. work, internships, etc., and how they tie into your present and future goals. Mention any awards or commendations you have received relating to the travel and tourism or hospitality industry.

Presidential Scholarships

The Presidential Scholarship Program offers 35 scholarships ranging from $31,000 per year to full tuition. These scholarships are offered to incoming students and are renewable for four years. Presidential Scholarship Program applicants will be notified in late December if selected to participate in the second round. If selected, candidates for the Presidential Scholarship Program will be invited to an event in January or February to have a conversation with two faculty/staff members and complete an essay. Both on-campus and remote options will be offered. Parents are invited to an interactive session to learn more about the benefits of a Carthage education. Students who attend the second-round event will receive a $2,000 grant toward tuition, renewable for four years. In addition to submitting the scholarship application, you must also apply for admission. Submit your application for admission and supporting materials including high school transcripts to Carthage by December 3 to be considered for these scholarships.

NTA Pat & Jim Host Scholarship

Applicants should be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and a permanent resident of Kentucky, who is a full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a travel-and-tourism- or hospitality-related program of study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States entering sophomore, junior, or senior year as an undergraduate, or any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application, with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Undergraduate students will be entering sophomore, junior, or senior year in the fall of the calendar year of application, and will have completed 30, 60, or 90 credit hours respectively by the end of this semester or term. Graduate students will be entering any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application. For a complete application, applicant needs to submit a U. S. passport as proof of citizenship, or U. S. Applicants should be a citizen or permanent resident of the Canada and a permanent resident of Quebec, who is a full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a travel-and-tourism- or hospitality-related program of study at an accredited three-year or four-year college or university in the United States or Canada entering final year as an undergraduate, or any year of graduate study, in the fall of the calendar year of application, with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Applicants from a three-year school will have completed 60 credit hours by the end of this semester or term. Applicants from a four-year school will have completed a minimum of 90 credit hours by the end of this semester or term. Graduate students will be entering any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application. ASTA Holland America Line Graduate Research Scholarship

Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of any country who is a full-time or part-time graduate student conducting research on a topic with a tourism focus, who can demonstrate a clear focus on and commitment to the tourism-subject area, enrolled an accredited four-year college or university, and entering any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application at a college or university in the United States or Canada, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Online application, passport as proof of citizenship, resume, letter of recommendation from academic or research advisor, Graduate Research Faculty Advisor Confirmation Form, Research Proposal, and Reflection Essay are required to be submitted. Five page research proposal which includes: the purpose or problem statement, hypothesis (if appropriate), objectives, scope, brief literature review, methodology, and applicability of results. The following are suggested research topics of interest (but are not limited to those on this list): overcoming consumers? objections to purchasing a cruise; how travel agents could market to adventure and special interest travel buyers; the future composition of the travel agency distribution channel and suggested strategies for retailers and suppliers; and consolidation as a survival strategy and possible productive partnerships with non-traditional organizations inside and outside the travel industry. All topics submitted to Tourism Cares will be considered for their relevance to the tourism industry. Research proposal reflection essay topic: Explain how you expect your career to serve the travel and tourism or hospitality industry, and/or how the practical application of the findings of your proposed research study will serve the travel and tourism or hospitality industry.

William F. Miller, MD Postgraduate Education Recognition Award

Applicant must be a respiratory therapist with at least a baccalaureate degree and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Application; proof of acceptance into an advanced degree program of a fully-accredited school and proof of the applicant's candidacy for a degree; three letters of reference attesting to the candidate's character, academic ability, and professional commitment; and essay of at least 1,200 words describing how the award will assist the applicant in reaching the objective of a degree and the candidate's ultimate goals of leadership in health care, and letters of recommendation are required to be submitted. Shred Nations Scholarship Program

Applicants must be interested in making future contributions to their community in business, environmental studies or the shredding and recycling industry. Students must be pursuing a degree at an accredited college, university or trade school. Applicants must either currently be an enrolled college student or be a graduating senior in high school.
