Earning a graduate degree from IUP can help you excel in your career. Choose from more than 60 master’s and doctoral programs to take the next step in your professional and personal journey.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania has provided its students with academic excellence and personal mentorship since its founding in 1875. Each year, more than 2,000 graduate students from 37 countries study in more than 60 professionally accredited graduate programs.

Many of these programs are set up as cohorts, enabling you to build close professional relationships with your classmates as you move through your courses together. By choosing IUP for your advanced degree, you will join a community that deeply cares about its students and their personal and professional success.

Competitive programs
IUP offers a variety of graduate programs to fit your needs. Choose from full-time master’s and doctoral degrees at our main campus or part-time hybrid and online programs designed for working professionals.

Many of our graduate programs are accredited by their respective professional organizations. In addition, they have received individual accolades that range from a “Top 10 Online Criminal Justice Degree” by U.S. News & World Report to “Best MBA Value for Your Money” by Money magazine.

Research opportunities
Classified as a doctoral/research university by the Carnegie Foundation, IUP has the greatest number of Fulbright faculty scholars in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. As a student, you will benefit from the latest technology and state-of-the-art facilities while also being able to explore numerous opportunities to present your research at conferences, symposia, and exhibits. Professors who care
To be successful, your graduate education depends heavily on the expertise and mentorship of faculty members. So at IUP, you’ll know your professors not only by the subjects they teach—you’ll know them by their names and their faces, their personalities, and the intellectual areas they are most passionate about. Work side-by-side with faculty members on stimulating research projects while learning in classrooms that kindle one-on-one experiences and mentorship with professors.

Cost and financial aid
Our affordable tuition rate during the 2017–2018 academic year was $500 per credit, offering an excellent return on investment on your graduate education. To ease your financial burden, we offer various financial support opportunities. Visit to learn more.

Five locations and online
IUP reaches beyond Indiana, Pennsylvania. While more than a thousand graduate students attend classes on our main campus each year, you can also decide to pursue your degree atone of four off-campus sites in the state: Pittsburgh East (near Monroeville), Northpointe, Johnstown, and Harrisburg. Other students take advantage of the various online and hybrid (partially online) options offeredby programs designed specifically forworking professionals, using technology like our “virtual classroom” experience.

“The instructor-student ratio was small and really enhanced my learning and provided close attention. The cohort structure provided additional support and camaraderie as we progressed through the program together. I would highly recommend IUP’s graduate program to others.” — Amy Biddle, MS in Nursing

“The faculty are so willing to collaborate with us, and students work together. There’s no competition here. We are always learning from each other.” — Eliza Albert, MA in Literature, PhD in Literature and Criticism
