RISE allows academically motivated rising high school seniors to conduct university-level laboratory research, under the guidance of a Boston University faculty mentor, in one of the following areas: astronomy, biology, chemistry, engineering, medicine, physics or psychology. Pupils work on an ongoing research project in their chosen area, in the process developing technical and analytical skills and gaining insight into the scientific method. Each student prepares a poster for display at a session-closing scientific conference. Participants have been recognized by the Intel Science Talent Search and the Siemens Westinghouse Competition.
