Global Routes enables students to immerse themselves in the daily life and rituals of a host community while working with locals on projects chosen by community leaders. For instance, boys and girls may teach English in Asia, build a community center in South America or construct a school in Africa. The program begins with a five- to eight-day orientation to the culture, language, religion and government of the host country. Course work culminates with a six- to 10-day exploration of the country's environment. One year of prior Spanish study is a prerequisite for certain programs.
