This rigorous, tuition-free program at MIT serves promising students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in science, engineering and technology. MITES participants choose five courses from offerings including calculus, physics, chemistry, biology, entrepreneurship, computer programming, humanities, genomics and robotics. Study skills workshops, tutoring sessions and guest speakers help students develop learning strategies, build confidence and plan their careers. At the program's conclusion, boys and girls deliver group presentations and receive faculty evaluations.
