Oberlin offers three programs to high school pupils considering a college major in music. Students in the Summer Academy for High School Organists attend five days of private lessons and master classes and have access to 17 practice organs. The weeklong Sonic Arts Workshop, which focuses on the composition of original electroacoustic music, addresses digital-audio editing and manipulation, real-time performance techniques, sampling and production using Macintosh-based software. The nine-day Vocal Academy for High School Students features master classes on performance practice, diction, style, phrasing and textual communication, in addition to private lessons and evening workshops on audition techniques. Each participant performs at a final concert.
